Climate 

The Great Victoria Desert is located at 29°S,129°E. The total area of this desert is 424 400 kmand it covers the regions from the Eastern Goldfields in Western Australia to the Gawler Ranges in South Australia.

The average annual rainfall of the Great Victoria Desert is very low and it ranges from 200 to 250mm each year. The rainfall distribution is often irregular. However, thunderstorms are common in this desert. There are around 15 to 20 thunderstorms every year. The southern parts of the Great Victoria Desert receive some rainfall in winter, but up north, the thunderstorms are the only available water source.

At daytime on summer days, the Great Victoria Desert's temperature is between 32°C and 40°C. On the other hand, in winter the temperature is between 18°C and 23°C. These winter temperatures may seem comfortable but at night it can be freezing and frosts are not very rare.
